We want to build a community that fosters ties between each other, listens openly, and sincerely cares for others.
Following Henry’s death, the Munson-Owen household was full of friends and strangers most nights. Initially, Susan Owen’s (Henry’s mother) main goal was to make sure his friends were okay. Young people from all over started to express their own struggles with depression, anxiety, and other issues to her. Susan said, “I think it terrified his peers and parents that if this could happen to Henry, it could happen to anyone. In that sense he was already helping to break the stigma”. Susan knew the manner in which he died left work to be done. She had a choice, to be bitter and destroyed, or turn her grief into something powerful and meaningful. From that point forward the HAMO Foundation was established and has continued to make an impact in honor of Henry’s legacy.
